It works. Just not as well as it should.
The business has grown. Requirements have changed. Customers expect something different. New products or services have been added. Structures, processes and systems have evolved along the way.
Much of it still works. But it takes more effort than it used to.
Decisions take longer. Coordination increases. Processes become more complex. Systems only partially fit. People compensate for what no longer works together organisationally or technologically.
The obvious question is: What else can we optimise?

When optimisation is no longer enough.
Sometimes targeted improvements are all that’s needed. Sometimes existing structures shouldn’t simply be optimised further. Then the challenge is to create a better interplay between organisation, processes, information, capabilities and technology.
Don’t change as much as possible. Change what matters.
